Collings OM3 Reclaimed Alaskan Spruce & Sinker Mahogany Custom

The tonewoods used to build this Collings OM3 win the shop award for most cumulative hours spent underwater! The top of the guitar is made from reclaimed Alaskan Sitka Spruce, foraged from a decades-old fish trap. And the back and sides are old-growth Sinker Mahogany. As with the other Sinker Mahogany Collings guitars we've played, this one exhibits a fundamental darkness in the low midrange that's not particularly characteristic of a Mahogany guitar. The fundamental note edge is dry and woody, thanks to that old Sitka Spruce. This guitar would make a great new companion for the guitarist who has wanted to love a Collings but found the tone a bit bright for their tastes. Handsomely inlaid with Collings' rarely-seen banjo fretboard motif!
