A perfectly aged Fiesta Red Grosh NOS Retro with vintage Strat soul, modern playability, and a fat, singing bridge tone that refuses to be thin.

This Fiesta Red Grosh NOS Retro captures everything we love about an early-’60s Strat, with just enough refinement to make it feel like the best version of that idea. The neck carve stays true to vintage inspiration, while the 10" radius adds a subtle modern edge that makes bends smoother and overall playability feel effortless.

For this build, we asked Don to lean into a slightly more orange-tinted Fiesta Red - chasing that perfectly aged “Campbell’s Soup” hue some original Fenders drifted toward over time (and yes, we’ll admit to a bit of Michael Landau influence here). Aged amber covers and knobs along with clay dots complete the look. The result? Pure vintage custom-color vibe, executed with the attention to detail Grosh is known for.

Acoustically, it’s loud, snappy, and impressively resonant, with sustain that hints at what’s coming once you plug in.

Through an amp, this Retro stretches beyond traditional Strat territory. The blend control and Tele-style bridge pickup baseplate add welcome authority and girth, no thin or brittle bridge tones here. Instead, you get punchy, singing compression with plenty of bite, alongside all the classic Strat cluck and shimmer in the in-between positions. There’s a polished quality to the tone - like a great vintage Strat that’s already seen a studio session and come back sweeter for it.

As for the feel? Exactly what you’d hope for. Smooth, dialed-in, and completely inspiring.

If you’re looking for a Strat that covers the vintage ground but isn’t limited by it, this one makes a very strong case.
