The curly koa top is stunning in person, with a depth and shimmer that’s hard to capture in photos. Every inch reveals thoughtful detail, from the 4-ply maple/ebony body top purfling to the bound black limba neck and old-growth Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, complete with mother of pearl crown inlays, rolled edges, hidden fret ends, and a hand-cut sterling silver truss rod cover. Loaded with a set of Ron Ellis “Bette” humbuckers, the tone is as refined and expressive as the instrument itself.

In-hand, the Fat ’59 neck profile is an instant comfort zone, somewhere between a vintage Gibson and a well-worn Fender, with a perfect balance of width and depth. It’s substantial but never cumbersome, and paired with the slick setup and a set of 9s, it’s incredibly easy to play.
