1989 PRS Custom 24 in original Whale Blue finish. This late '89 build has a number of transitional features, like the Vintage Bass/HFS pickup combination that followed the "T&B" pairing often seen in earlier examples. This Custom 24 also has a tone pot in lieu of the sweet switch, and the Moon/Dot inlays as opposed to the Birds. Still, it's got the smaller script headstock logo and Brazilian Rosewood board, and some very nice Figured Maple on the top that likely just missed a 10 Top designation.
The wide-thin profile is a total breeze to play, and combined with low action allows for clean, fast runs up and down the fingerboard.
It's clear this Custom 24 was loved and enjoyed, showing all the signs of typical play and handling wear. There's some moderate wear on the back of the body (buckle rash, scuffs, and some small dings), and similar wear on the headstock edges and back. The top follow suit, with some pick scratches in the playing area, light hazing of the top coat on the treble side, and a pair of finish chips along the treble-side waist. The original frets show some light wear in the in the first few frets, but are otherwise very clean with lots of life left in them. The input jack was replaced, but the original is included.
The bridge route looks to have been enlarged at one point in the guitar's history but has been blocked with piece of matching whale blue wood. It's very well done and doesn't cause any issues with the original / re-installed bridge.
The original black hardshell case shows light wear but is structurally solid with all of its latches working as they should.
