What is it about these early PRSi?!?
This '89 just came into the shop from the family of a local owner, and again, we're just floored by how these guitars are. Solidly built, with a gorgeous top (in this case, a 10 Top) and Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, and the original pickups sound stellar. It really shows Paul's genius when it came to designing a guitar that could step into Fender or Gibson land and still have its own thing happening.
This one's got a beautiful Vintage Cherry Sunburst finish that has lightly faded but still shows off quite a bit of the Cherry on the edges. The neck seems to sit between a Pattern Thin and Pattern Vintage - super comfortable and easy to play up and down the fretboard.
As is common for this period, the original humbuckers are slightly hotter, with the treble pickup featuring the "warming mod" slugs on the E and B strings, respectively. Fat, punchy, and with great definition, they combine with the 25" scale length to deliver on clarity even under higher gain applications. It's what has made the Custom 24 a modern day legend in the electric guitar world.
We polished up the original frets in house, and that's about all the guitar needed, frankly. Outside of some very light surface scuffs on the back of the body and one chip on the back corner of the headstock, it's a very well maintained example of a 35+ year old PRS.
Aftermarket PRS hardshell case included.
