Product information

A Strat with soul and muscle - the JR Reserve delivers vintage feel, refined tone, and boutique-level magic you won’t want to put down.

There’s something about Lentz guitars that makes them incredibly hard to walk away from - just ask TME’s own Eliot (or anyone who knows him). While these builds are remarkably consistent, each one offers its own subtle fingerprint, especially when it comes to neck profiles. Some lean into chunky territory with full shoulders, others nod to sleeker early ’60s-style carves.

This JR Reserve hits a sweet spot with a mid-’50s soft V-to-C profile that fits perfectly in the hand. Not ultra-slim, but not a baseball bat either, making it ideal for players who bounce between Les Pauls and Strats and want something that feels familiar but elevated. The neck features gorgeous flame maple and is topped with a Brazilian rosewood board.

The feel and response is slinky and smooth, yet with just enough resistance to keep you grounded - never too loose, always in the pocket. A 9.5" radius and tall, narrow vintage-style frets contribute to the effortless playability.

Sonically, think hot-rodded Strat with a hint of Gibson DNA. There’s chime and clarity across the board, that signature 2 & 4 position "cluck," and a bridge pickup that leans into P90 territory - hotter, punchier, and built to push an amp in all the right ways. Crank the volume and you'll understand why these are so addictive. They're muscular but never muddy, articulate without being clinical, and consistently inspiring.

And yes, if you’ve done your research, you’ve likely heard the praise. Lentz guitars have a loyal following for a reason. Now that Scott Lentz and his son have officially retired, the window to grab one of these exceptional instruments is closing. If you’re after your forever Strat, this might just be it.
