Ok, ok. You had us at Geddy Lee. Take our money! We can't stop there, though truly that is good enough for us. What if we told you it was a Jason Smith Masterbuilt to boot? Jason is the son of Fender royalty, Dan Smith, and his first big rock concert at the ripe old age of six was.....drumroll.....any guesses? Yep, Rush, where he met Geddy Lee. At six.
Great backstory, right? On top of that, Jason has built Geddy's personal basses and hand shaped the neck on this killer 2019 Masterbuilt Geddy Lee J Bass to maych Geddy's vintage 72 bass. Come on, it doesn't get much cooler than that! This is your shot to buy a J Bass by the guy who makes Geddy's personal basses, and, has matched the neck to one of Geddy's. We're mainly guitar players here at TME and we all want this bass!
Alright, enough stars in the eyes for one day. Is this bass great or no?
Yes, absolutely, and not just because of the Geddy attachment. Like all J Basses, the focus here is on tonal versatility and easy of play. This alder bodied, maple necked J Bass delivers both in spades. Classic J Bass tones that will of course get you into Rush territory tonally, but also any other legendary J Bass player - Jaco, anyone? Great articulation with a nice, tight, fat low-end.
Condition: Excellent. Only light signs of wear are present - a few very small/minor indentations on the body, beyond that....not much else (especially impressive given black finishes show everything).
Priced with hardshell case.
