1958 Fender Esquire just in on consignment!
Refinished by one of the industry's most accomplished and talented Fender restoration experts - Gord Miller - this mid-58 Esquire has all the looks and sound of an original guitar without putting the "all" in a "all-original" price point.
The V neck is a real standout on this guitar - it's got a little bit of the feel of the necks found on the earliest of "Whiteguard" Era Fenders. That slightly rounder bottom edge of the V makes it feel really inviting and broken-in.
Gord Miller's refinish of the body is just spectacular all around. Original body contours were very well maintained, and he seamlessly plugged a small screw hole in the body just above the bridge where a screw had once held down the original cupping pickguard. It's even got open nail holes to keep it in line with the authenticity of an original Fender finish.
The original pickup has that unmistakable Tele/Esquire twang and clarity, and with the natural acoustic resonance of this Esquire being so strong, it yields an incredibly dynamic plugged in playing experience. Like a lot of these great 50s single-pickup electrics, there's much more tonal range available than meets the eye.
Weighing in at just about 7 3/4 lbs on our scale, it's nice and balanced, but with enough weight to let you know it's there. Still extremely comfortable seated or strapped!
The guitar is accompanied by a 60s Fender hardshell case along with its original 5-hole-turned-6-hole single-ply pickguard.
