With its sleek, contoured double-cutaway body, pioneering synchronized tremolo, and trio of single-coil pickups, the Stratocaster quickly became one of the most iconic guitars ever made - defining the sound of generations of players over the past seven decades.
To celebrate that legacy, the Fender Custom Shop has unveiled a run of limited-edition '54 Strats, each a masterful take on the very first-year models, executed with impeccable attention to detail.
The '63 Oval C neck profile (.83"–1.0") is a highlight on this particular guitar, offering a comfortable taper that never feels oversized, paired with a 7 1/4"–9 1/2" compound radius, 1.625" nut width, and beautifully rolled fingerboard edges.
Classic touches like skirted knobs, the vintage “football” switch tip, and an offset-seam two-piece ash body enhance both the look and resonance of the instrument.
And then there are the hand-wound Custom Shop Tomatillo pickups, made with Alnico II magnets to capture the warm, chimey essence of aged ‘50s tones. The result is clean and articulate, with shimmering highs, a touch of midrange scoop, and rich lows that break up sweetly when pushed. Yes, please.
