Product information

A rare Lentz Reserve featuring a birdseye maple neck and abalone dot inlays - crafted from 25+ year-old cabinet-aged woods for unmatched tone, feel, and visual character.

If you’ve tracked with our Lentz inventory over the years, you know Lentz guitars were built with a level of care and detail that borders on obsessive.

"Wait....were built? You mean, are built, right?"

No, sadly, Scott Lentz Sr and Jr retired last year and are no longer producing instruments, so they will likely become harder to come by as time goes on. Lentz owners are a passionate crew and are unlikely to part with theirs given this news.

One look at this Reserve model and it’s easy to see why they're so revered. The lightweight, one-piece ash body wears its natural finish like a badge of honor - showcasing the beauty of cabinet-aged tonewoods that have been seasoning for over 25 years.

But what sets this one apart? A few choice specs we’ve only seen once or twice before on a Lentz: a stunning birdseye maple neck and abalone dot inlays on the fretboard - subtle details that elevate the look and feel into rarified air. As with all Reserve builds, the components are top-shelf across the board: Brazilian rosewood fretboard (from 1915 stock), pickups wound specifically for this guitar, vintage-correct tortoise pickguard, and carefully matched electronics for optimal tone shaping.

What really makes a Lentz special, though, is how it feels in the hands - especially into a cranked amp. The resonance is immediate, even before you plug in. There’s a tactile, responsive quality to the guitar that makes every note bloom. It’s hard to define the “Lentz feel,” but once you experience it, you’ll understand why players obsess over it. And once you’re plugged in? Rich, articulate tones with depth and power, and tone controls that actually let you sculpt your sound, not just tame it.
