This 2006 Collings City Limits is probably one of the earliest we've had in the shop since their introduction to our shop in the same year. All these years later, it reinforces just how well our favorite Austin, TX builders executed their popular single-cut right out of the gate.
This build features some beautiful tight-grained Figured Maple for the top wood with a beautiful Iced Tea Sunburst top finish that really makes all of the grained Ivoroid treatment pop. A nice, dark Madagascar Rosewood fingerboard is inlaid with the classic pearl dots, allowing the Rosewood to take center stage. The Lollar Imperial humbuckers bring equal parts authority and vintage warmth to the table, matching the dynamic acoustic response of this low 8lb solidbody in convincing fashion.
At almost 20 years of age, it's been incredibly well maintained and still presents in excellent condition. There's not much to discuss in terms of noticeable wear. Some light pick scuffs here and there and a few small dimples in the body, and that's about it.
This first-year City Limits has the quality of build to last alongside the very best of them.
