First introduced in 2007 as the stock set in Ron Thorn’s Junior-Ninety guitars, the Staple Top GT-90s quickly earned a reputation as a smarter take on the classic P-90.

Built around AlNiCo 5 rectangular staple poles, the GT-90s deliver a level of clarity and definition you won’t find in typical bar-magnet P-90s. The bridge pickup carries all the grind and growl players love about a great P-90, with an extra edge of presence that cuts beautifully in a mix.

Each set is hand-wound by Ron Thorn. Non-adjustable poles ensure a perfect fit into any P-90 routed body.

Brand Story

Ron Thorn is regarded in guitar circles as a builder's builder. He's been the Fender Custom Shop's sole inlay artist since 1995, a Fender Custom Shop Principal Master Builder and later the Director of Master Builder Operations, and has produced his own line of guitars under the Thorn name since 2000. Ron's instruments are renowned for their impeccable build quality, innovative features, effortless playability, and inspiring tones.
