A resonator Ron Thorn built end to end in 2015, down to the cone cover he machined and stamped himself.
Most of what you are looking at, Ron Thorn made himself. The neck and the body you would expect. The metal is the surprise. He machined every piece of hardware on this guitar, including the cone cover, and stamped them by hand. There is no parts bin anywhere in it. The hardware is his, the same way the neck and the body are his, which is a level of vertical control very few builders anywhere attempt on a... resonator!The woods are what you would hope for from Thorn. Mahogany body, quilt maple top, curly maple neck, ebony fretboard. It is a warm and traditional set of choices, and it gives the metalwork and the inlay something to sit against rather than compete with.
Then there is the silver. Sterling silver purfling runs all the way around the body, the fretboard, and the headstock, with pearl and silver inlays throughout. Thorn built his reputation on inlay and precision work long before he built his reputation on complete guitars, and this instrument is what that skill looks like when it is turned loose on a single piece. The nickel silver and ebony nut is a small detail that most people will never notice, and it is one of our favorite things about the guitar.
It was built in 2015 for a player Thorn knew well, and set up for slide. It has been treated accordingly.

Every instrument is thoroughly checked and set up before shipping fully insured via UPS with tracking to your door. We reuse boxes and materials to cut waste when they meet our protection standard.
Inspect it, play it, and if it isn't right, contact us within 48 hours of delivery to arrange a return or one-time exchange. Returns are subject to a 5% restocking fee, and the buyer covers shipping both ways.
