Rickenbacker 360/12 Mapleglo (1966)

1966 Rickenbacker 360/12 Mapleglo just in on consignment!

In the hands of music legends like George Harrison and Roger McGuinn, Rickenbacker's 360/12 was a premier electric 12-string of the 1960s, and became one of their most iconic models to date. Their identifiable sound matched only by their unique looks, no guitar manufacturer saw competition as fierce in the 12-string market- it was Rickenbacker's to own.

This early '66 360/12 is a marvelous example of a vintage Ric 12, with a gorgeous Mapleglo finish, dual Toaster pickups, and classic crushed pearl Sharkfin inlays. With the exception of some replaced pickup grommets, the bridge (original also included), and knobs (also included), this is quite a clean example. The original finish is very clean for its age, and shows off the beautiful figure in the maple, both on the body and the neck. The entire pickup harness is original, with all four CTS pots showing dates of the 1st week of 1966 along with the blue molded tone capacitors. The input jack leads have been replaced but the work was very nicely done, with shrink-wrapped connections at the harness.

The original fretwire is the typical vintage style of the era, though it remains comfortably playable for a 12-string rhythm instrument (if you're planning on big bends and rock riffs, look elsewhere). The neck carve is a comfortable C/D hybrid with a shallow taper- perfect for playing chords up the neck!
