The first of Northfield's newly refined Artist Series mandolins are here, benchmark examples that improve on an already impressive F5.


Over the last two decades, Northfield have established themselves as a leading small-production builder, popular with touring pros and amateur players alike. Some of Northfield's own instruments have now matured long enough to be evaluated alongside the vintage and contemporary mandolins that inspired them. Combined with years of player feedback, recordings, research, and careful observation, that perspective has helped shape the next chapter of their Artist Series.

We’re proud to offer the first examples of Northfield’s newly refined 2-Bar Artist Series mandolins— benchmark examples of what this updated series represents. The sunburst model is built with Adirondack spruce, while the Amber model features an Italian spruce top, offering two distinct interpretations of the Parallel Tone Bar voice.

These newest mandolins retain everything we love about the Artist Series— a warm, engaging depth of tone, comfortable playability, and superb craftsmanship—while offering an updated look, feel, and a more powerful, forward voice that we find very compelling.

We can't wait to hear what the next tweny years have in store for Northfield, and are excited to join them on the journey!
