Martin D-35 (1968)

We acquired this instrument from the original owner, who bought it in Boston when it was new.

This well-loved 1968 Martin D-35 is a great choice for the David Gilmour fan who's longed to emulate the classic tones made famous by "Wish You Were Here." While Gilmour's (former) D-35 is a 1969 model, our subject guitar is essentially identical to it. And as a bonus feature: it's a very early 1968 guitar and retains a factory small Maple bridge plate from the pre-1968 production era. We acquired this instrument from the original owner, who bought it in Boston when it was new. It's a great-sounding example of the model, and exhibits our favorite Brazilian Rosewood D-35 traits -- big bass, heavy overtone content, and enviable depth of tone relative to other 60's flattops. When the guitar arrived at TME, the nut and saddle had already been replaced, but it was otherwise completely original. The original pickguard had curled up and broken, so our shop installed a new one alongside a neck reset and refret. The guitar now plays beautifully and looks the best it has in decades. Priced with the original owner's hardshell case, which lost its original handle long ago and now wears a homemade rope handle instead. Calton Cases are available if an upgrade is desired.
