Product information

This punchy-sounding 1957 Martin D-28 has just arrived for consignment! Late-1956 and 1957 Martin dreadnoughts are characterized by a dry, balanced voice with lots of punch for single-note flatpicking (and that pepperoni-colored pickguard). This D-28 is no exception to that rule, exhibiting fullness, power, and clarity fit to power a bluegrass or country rhythm section. There's a nice darkness about its low midrange, thanks to its Brazilian Rosewood back and sides; and it's capable of producing ample sparkle when played fingerstyle. An excellent choice for a player interested in an old-factory D-28 at the more modest end of the price range.

The guitar remains in good overall condition, and it's beautifully setup. The most recent repairs were performed at the Martin factory in 2018. Those included: repair of a back crack (treble side, please see our photos), neck reset, bridge replacement, nut & saddle replacement, and repair of the original bridge plate. The top shows older finish overspray. The setup remains rock-solid, and hasn't moved at all since the aforementioned repairs. Priced with its original hard case, which is in very good condition.
