This 000-21S features some absolutely stunning Brazilian Rosewood back & sides, and (perhaps even more stunning?) and old-stock Red Spruce top from the 1930's complete with pearl rosette.
This exceptionally cool 1965 Martin 000-21S ("S" for "Special Order") has just come in for consignment! Martin wasn't making a 12-fret 000 in the 1960's, but produced this guitar as a special order for one of their retailers who ordered it as a gift for his wife. It features some absolutely stunning Brazilian Rosewood back & sides, and (perhaps even more stunning?) and old-stock Red Spruce top from the 1930's complete with pearl rosette. The aforementioned dealer also requested the couple's dog's name be stamped on the neck block; and sure enough, you'll find "Duende" branded there right next to ther serial number (200000). The guitar went back to Martin at some point for a headstock crack repair, at which time it was oversprayed. The original bridge has been replaced as well. Other than that, the instrument remains in lovely condition and plays nicely up and down the neck. The sound is wonderful ~ big, powerful, and open, with a depth of tone one simply does not normally hear in a 1960's Martin. Price includes non-original Martin hard case. On consignment; expedited shipping required.
