The new Martin 00-18 Joe Bonamassa continues the collaboration between the legendary flattop builder and the proprietor of Nerdville by offering up a replica of his personal 1937 00-18.
There's a lot to love here. Let's start with the gorgeous, unique Sunburst that's a close-as-possible copy of the finish on Bonamassa's own guitar. The hand-rubbed look and shading are as close as anything in the world to the vibe of a real Golden-Era Martin shaded finish.
Next, we've got the 30's style wide neck & string spacing alongside Genuine Mahogany back, sides, and neck. There's a fullness of voice and friendliness of feel that makes this guitar respond like something that's been hanging around the house in an armchair. We approve.
And finally -- value. Whether you're hearing Bonamassa's name for the first time right now, or whether you follow his every post on Instagram, this is a downright cool-looking, great sounding guitar with our preferred feature set and a Standard Series price point. Bravo, all around!
Priced with a hardshell case from Martin.
From Martin: "The 00-18 Joe Bonamassa marks Martin’s second collaboration with the blues-rock superstar, inspired by his prized pre-war 1937 00-18. Its solid spruce top features a custom sunburst that replicates the visual wear of Joe’s original instrument—capturing the look of a well-played vintage classic while delivering modern reliability. Paired with genuine mahogany back and sides, it offers warm bass, punchy midrange, and articulate treble response in a comfortable 00 body size that’s ideal for blues, folk, and fingerstyle playing. Golden Era scalloped X-bracing enhances vintage-inspired resonance and sustain, while details like faux tortoise binding and a GE Modified Low Oval neck with standard taper provide a familiar feel rooted in pre-war tradition. Built to capture the spirit of one of Joe’s most treasured Martins, it’s a blues-ready 00 that invites you to dig in and make it your own."
