Will These Straps Affect My Guitar’s Finish? Here’s What You Need to Know

Poly
If your guitar has a Polyurethane (“Poly”) finish—the most common type—you’re in the clear.
Nitro
However if your guitar has a Nitrocellulose (“Nitro”) finish—found on many Gibsons / boutique builds / custom shop models / and vintage instruments—be aware that Nitro can react to prolonged contact with various material including leather / nylon / vinyl / and even sweat or cologne. To be safe we recommend removing your strap when storing your guitar.

As always-when it comes to Nitro finishes-proceed with caution when leaving any strap on for extended periods.
