A refined take on the classic 808-style overdrive - JRC4558D at its core, with selectable clipping modes, a dedicated high-gain stage, and finer low-gain control than the original.

When the original Tubedreamer landed in 2006, the goal was to build the best 808-style overdrive on the market. The mk.2 picks up where that one left off - warm, rich, and articulate, with a midrange voiced to cut through a mix without ever turning harsh or congested. Improved low-gain resolution opens up a wider range of usable tones at quieter settings, where a lot of the most musical playing actually lives.

At its core sits the JRC4558D chip, the same one used in the most sought-after vintage units. A 3-diode asymmetrical clipping stage adds touch sensitivity and natural pick response, while a no-diode mode pulls clipping out entirely for a more open, amp-like feel with extra headroom. A dedicated HIGH GAIN footswitch brings in an additional gain stage for solos or heavier pushes, with internal trimmers for precise level matching in each clipping mode. You can also set the startup state, so the pedal powers on exactly how you want it.
