1965 Guild CE-100 model in original Sunburst just into the shop!
The CE-100 model was introduced in the mid 1950s, offering electric jazz players a formidable option to Gibson's ES-175 model. This approach would follow throughout the Guild lineup into the 1970s as they worked to pull some of that market share from the Kalamazoo guitar giants.
This Hoboken-built hollowbody electric is one of the best values going in vintage guitars, and honestly has been for some time. The single-pickup version features Guild's mini humbucker, which has a clear, bright voice that pairs well with the woody acoustic tonality these guitars produce.
With a very comfortable slim-medium C carve and slim taper, the feel is fast and inviting. The original frets still offer great playability as well.
It's probably obvious if you've looked through the photos, but this CE-100 is about as clean as you'll find one of these models from this period. It's been exceptionally well maintained! There are a few small finish chips that were touched up along the lower bout waist and one on the top on the bass side, but is otherwise in lovely shape.
Paired with what appears to be its original Ess & Ess hardshell case (the primary supplier for Guilds during this period), it's hard to imagine finding a guitar as well-built as this one for the price.
