Grez Mendocino Junior Peacock Paisley

A redwood Grez Mendocino Jr with a single Wolfetone P90 and a one-of-a-kind, hand-floated Peacock Paisley finish.

A Junior-style guitar keeps things simple: a single P90, a bridge, volume and tone, and...you. With so few parts, every one of them has to be excellent for the guitar to become something special, and that is exactly what Grez delivers with the Mendocino Jr. It pairs a redwood body with a Honduran mahogany neck, a Wolfetone Meaner P90, and a Music City wrap bridge, and the result is chimey, muscular, open, articulate, and punchy all at once.

This one features a Peacock Paisley finish, and the way it's made is as interesting as the way it looks. The redwood is sealed first, then paint is floated on the surface of a water bath and worked by hand into this swirling pattern. The body is dipped through it, the pattern transfers onto the wood, and a final coat of lacquer seals it all in. Because the pattern is formed by hand on moving water, no two finishes come out alike. The one you see here is the only one of its kind.

The neck has a slightly chunky C carve that is comfortable from the first chord and easy to live with over a long night, and we think a wide range of players will feel at home on it.

Most importantly? This guitar is a blast to play. Plug it in, turn it up, and let that P90 do the talking. It's our favorite aspect of Grez guitars - they're exceedingly musical, responsive, and inspiring. This one just happens to look damned cool too.
