A marvelous example of the slim-slab single pickup rock machine, this '65 SG Junior has got it going on!

1965 Gibson SG Junior in original Cherry finish just into the shop!

You know that feeling when you put your hands on an old guitar, and within about 30 seconds of playing it (not even plugged in, mind you) you just...know?!

Well, that's what happened with this '65 SG Junior that just strolled into the shop via a great local customer of ours. A couple of quick chords and riffs were played, and the acoustic energy, sustain, and richness of tone just jumped right out of this guitar with ease. The natural play wear and overall vibe would suggest that whoever owned this guitar over the past half century likely realized early on that it was a winner. A transitional Junior of sorts, this guitar features nickel hardware along with the newly adapted narrow nut width that Gibson introduced in 1965. The build remains otherwise unchanged from 1964, including finish and electronics.

The guitar was refretted prior to our acquisition, and a reproduction set of Kluson tuners were installed as well. We cleaned up the frets, adjusted the neck accordingly, and gave it a fresh setup. It truly is a fantastic sounding and playing SG Junior!

Overall condition is very good, with some obvious play wear through out. Various nicks, dings, scratches, and scuffs, oxidation to the top coat and patina on the hardware. There was a small input jack repair that seemed to have been done many years ago, and it's very stable. This is somewhat common with SGs given the thinner control cavity wall and thin body build. It's paired with a beat, but protective vintage Gibson SG case with yellow interior.
Condition: Vintage. Fully inspected and set up by TME staff before it ships or leaves the showroom.
