We are highly suspicious this Gibson LG2 was made around the same time as the 1946 J-45 also currently in inventory: their finishes look eerily similar, and they share a somewhat oddball sonic characteristic as well (a colorfulness perhaps not typically associated with a postwar Gibson flattop). This is certainly one of the lightest LG2s we've ever had, which makes it a joy to play. It's got an airy, responsive quality that'll have you exploring alternate tunings and rich-sounding dropped-D chord melodies all night long. If you're a student of the Scott Nygaard School of Sensitive Flatpicking, this is an LG2 you'll fall in love with ~ the voice is thick and warm, yet the guitar retains excellent punch and clarity when played higher up the neck. Its overall condition is excellent, with only the typical dings and scratches we'd expect to see on a guitar this old (no cracks). The original lacquer finish exhibits checking consummate with its age. This is a no-brainer of an LG2 for anyone who's been searching for that elusive small-bodied Gibson for use in the recording studio and the jam session. Priced with non-original hardshell case.
