Product information

A superbly clean '58 TV Special that has all the hallmarks of a great 50s Gibson solidbody.

This 1958 Gibson Les Paul Special just came in on consignment from its second owner, after spending almost its entire life in Ontario Canada. Boy, is it a stunner! Do they get any cleaner than this, folks!?!

As single-cut Specials go, '58s seem awful hard to top. Great neck carves, smooth and powerful P90s, and generally quite lightweight. This one weighed in just under 7.5lbs on our scale, for those keeping score.

Some careful work was completed to maximize playability - a fantastic refret by Holger Notzel with Jescar frets that have more of a '59 profile, an intonated wraparound tailpiece from MojoAxe, Kluson Supreme tuners (drop-in), and an input jack plate to replace the original that had cracked. It's playing better than it ever did out of the factory, and all of the original parts remain with the guitar.

The finish is exceptional - one of the very best we've seen. Very light lacquer checking throughout, and with a beautiful gloss still intact. There are some light chips/nicks on the headstock, but the body is incredibly clean.

Paired with a high quality TKL LP-style hardshell
