Recently acquired from the son of its longtime owner who'd purchased it in the early 60s, this '56 packs some of our favorite features of the undeniably great singlecut single pickup electric into one instrument. A fat C neck with a gorgeous dark Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, powerful original P90 pickup and wiring harness, and super lightweight to boot... what else could you want this to be?!
This guitar experienced a headstock break very early on in its life, and as told by the previous owner, his father actually purchased it with the break already there. Aside from that repaired break, the guitar remained untouched (and frankly unplayed) for decades, sitting in its original chipboard case lying in wait for its next opportunity to get play time again. Well, now's the time! Our repair staff did an excellent refret with Jescar 45100 wire, replacing the original small fretwire for a greatly improved playing experience. The original Kluson tuners also got a fresh set of buttons installed to replaced the all but crumbled originals. Lastly, we outfitted it with a MojoAxe tailpiece to improve intonation. The original tailpiece is include for posterity.
All else remains just as it did when it left the factory. Original Sunburst finish, pickguard, bonnet knobs, and aforementioned case, complete with the original hangtag! Even the input jack plate is original and unbroken!
This '56 tipped our scales at a very lean 6lb 14oz, and combined with the chunky neck makes for one resonant, lightweight and powerful guitar. If all you need to do is overlook the ancient headstock repair, you'll have yourself an incredible sounding and playing vintage Junior at the price of a Murphy Lab Reissue.
