Gibson Les Paul Custom, Cherry Sunburst (1975)
LP-Style · Vintage
We had a '78 LP Custom in Tobacco Sunburst come through a few years back that reminds us of this one - exceptionally clean and all original, just like this '75. The original gold-plated hardware still retains its shine with very minimal wear, and the finish is superb. The slim C neck is befitting of the era, offering fast, effortless playability, and the original frets show barely any wear. The factory pair of Patent # stamped humbuckers are bright, articulate, and punchy, delivering more of the classic LP tonality than what would follow in some of the Tarback and Dirty Fingers humbuckers that followed into the end of the decade and into the 1980s.
The three piece Maple top offers a mix of flat sawn ripple and flame, making it look quite dramatic depending on the angle and lighting. The burst of the top is also matched on the back, sides, and neck.
It seems that regardless of the period, the LP Custom always commands attention, and deservedly so. Iconic looks, classic tone... what more do you need in an LP?!
