This 1958 Gibson J-45 has just arrived on trade! It's an ex exceptionally well-kept guitar, and a great-sounding example of the model. Late 50's J-45s occupy a very particular sonic niche: while not as raw and growly as a 1940's guitar, they have a soft midrange and bright, snappy high end, which results in a gorgeous, pillowy version of the classic J-45 presence. This particular guitar would be a fantastic recording studio workhorse; and it would sit perfectly behind the voice of a powerful country singer who needs a guitar that sits back a bit in the mix. Put this one in our 'highest marks' category for sound relative to era and price point.

We rate this guitar in excellent vintage condition. The structural components are all-original and very clean. The original lacquer finish shines like new! We spy one hairline crack near the treble side of the fingerboard extension, though it's stable and the internal braces cover it. The guitar has been well-maintained, and it's perfectly setup, featuring a new bone saddle and replacement tuner buttons. The action sits at 3/32" (bass side) and 2/32" (treble side) under tension of light strings. Our techs have freshened the setup and inspected the whole guitar's structure. Priced with its original chipbaord case, which shows wear. The new owner may want to upgrade the case for shipping and / or protectiveness.
