This 2019 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue features all the painstaking historic construction methods of the famous '59 Reissues with a few historically-accurate spec differences that allow it to stand on its own. Like the 1958 originals, it has narrow frets which help more of the fingerboard wood to be heard in the tone profile. It also has a round, chunky neck profile for a full feel and maximum bending leverage. And finally it has a beautiful plain maple top; each is unique and full of character.
The previous owner swapped the pickups to Black Cat Vintage Repro PAFs and also changed the knobs to more accurate repros. These pickups are made with all the right stuff - butyrate bobbins, nickel silver baseplates, rough cast magnets, and "2 strand" braided wire. Roughly in the 8.4K range, they are slightly hot with killer clarity and bite (think: fat single coil). It reminded us a lot of early Allman Bros, while the neck pickup has a fatter, rounder Warren Haynes-like tone. It's a great combo, especially when you get some volume going on your amp. You can then use your volume controls to control the breakup via a great vintage LP. Good stuff for sure.
Condition: Very good, with light signs of wear including a few marks on the finish and a few random dings scattered across the surfaces and edges. The frets show no wear and the setup is great. The biggest area of wear is on one corner of the headstock, apparently from a pet cat's teeth. In short, if you're looking for a minty fresh LP, this may not be the one for you. :-)
Priced with hardshell case.
