Lovely H-4 mandola just in to the shop! The sound is all there: full, rich, with wonderful, uncommon balance and sustain for days. With its golden patina and light crazing, this mandola looks to have been refinished in the decade or so following WWII, and most likely by Gibson. It has been lovingly maintained since then, and comes to us in beautiful condition.
Original tuners with inlaid Handel buttons, "The Gibson" script headstock with flowerpot inlay, double-rope soundhole rosette. Replaced tailpiece cover bears the postwar Gibson logo. A really wonderful example of a not-often seen, 'teens scroll Gibson mandola.
