Gibson ES-335TD Natural (1966)
Semi-Hollow · Humbuckers Pickups · Vintage
When we first got our hands on this guitar, we couldn't believe it was a rescue from the devastating Nashville flood of 2010. Pictured here in a gorgeous and convincing Natural refinish, it stands as both a great example of Gibson's Golden Era quality, and of the quality of some truly impressive repair and restoration work. This 335 might not satisfy vintage purists, but it sure does play like a great old 60s semi-hollow. You simply cannot replace the age of this laminated maple body and mahogany neck, and that's apparent upon first strum.
Loaded with a quality repro harness and some modern classic humbuckers in the way of Seymour Duncan Antiquities, you'll quickly find this 335's got a great PAF-esque voice. Though most of the hardware and plastics been replaced (and with the proper style/type, no less), this 335 presents so well!
The neck was reset in the restoration process, and coupled with a great refret, it's got excellent geometry and playability. It needs nothing more than a willing player to keep its unique history alive.
Paired with an aftermarket hardshell case.
