Just in from the son of the original owner - a total cherry bomb 1966 Gibson ES-330TDC!
This guitar was purchased new at Manny's Music sometime in 1966 where it stayed in the loving care of its original owner (and family) until mid-2024. We've become the temporary caretarkers of this great uncirculated ES-330 and couldn't be happier to offer it up!
This ES-330 has all of the classic mid 60s features like the 1 9/16" nut, chrome hardware, small block fingerboard inlays, and reflector knobs. Its original Cherry finish has faded slightly into a bit more of a "washed" look with some of the watermelon hues most commonly associated with late 50s Cherry-finished Gibsons.
It features a factory Bigsby B7 tailpiece - a common option offered by Gibson in lieu of the trapeze tailpiece - and it's a welcome variant on this model. The added tension bar of the Bigsby pushes the fundamental power up a notch or two as well, all without compromising the great airy qualities of these guitars.
Despite minimal body wear (besides the typical buckle rash and lacquer checking throughout), the guitar was most definitely played as evidenced by the fret wear on the original frets. We carefully refretted the guitar with Jescar 45100 wire, restoring it to top playing shape. Beyond that, everything else remains original to the instrument. The pickguard in particular is still of the wide bevel variety more often found on early 60s guitars and older, and shows the striations commonly associated with the 50s "rolled" plastics.
A super fine example of a vintage ES-330 that would suit the home player just a well as the stage/studio player.
