Gibson ES-330TD Sunburst (1961)
Hollow-Body/Archtop · Vintage
A wonderfully preserved 1961 Gibson ES-330TD in original Sunburst, featuring sweet and chimey P90s, vibrant lacquer checking, and all-original hardware - playable, powerful, and full of vintage soul.
1961 Gibson ES-330TD in original Sunburst finish just into the shop via consignment from its longtime second owner! The classic 'Sunburst & Dots' look found on many a Gibson guitar during this period doesn't really present any better than this. Original nickel-plated hardware throughout, including the no-wire ABR-1 bridge, trapeze tailpiece, and "single line" Kluson tuners, all remain clean and functional. The Sunburst has aged wonderfully with nice lacquer checking throughout, yet still showing a vibrant and rich finish. The original P90 pickups are superbly matched, and exhibit a lot of the qualities we often find in 50s P90s, combined with some of the powerful tone of 60s P90s. It's the perfect mix of sweet and chimey, woody and percussive, open yet ripe with musical compression and bloom...
...and could it be any easier to play? This slim C neck profile has a smooth, slim taper that plays fast. The original medium jumbo frets show very little wear with recently crowned and comfortable height.
There's some buckle rash on the back of the body in two locations as seen in the photos. Beyond that, however, it's got some fairly normal wear for a 60+ year old guitar. Small nicks, dings, and surface scratches seem to blend into the lacquer checking quite well, so the guitar doesn't present its wear in an obvious way. The only true modification to the guitar is the installation of a strap button on the treble side horn. It's otherwise how it left the factory.
Paired with a later (70s-80s) Gibson hardshell case in excellent condition.
