While the Gibson ES-335 gets much of the praise when it comes to the ES style electrics, the ES-330 is certainly no slouch. The hollowbody P90-loaded cousin to the ES-335, the ES-330 has claimed its stake as the premier thinline hollowbody electric for the better part of 60 years.

Built in early 1965, this Cherry Red ES-330 retains much of the heralded pre-'65 features like the wider 1 11/16" nut width and nickel plated hardware. It's a fantastic example that came from its original owner, who purchased the guitar new when he was 12 years old. Singular ownership shows here, as the guitar presents in excellent overall condition with all original parts and its original finish.

The slim C neck carve has a bigger taper that we've consistently seen in 1965 Gibson necks, starting out like an early 60s neck in the first position, but tapering up into a meatier profile more in line with a '59 neck carve. Playability is great, and the original frets have plenty of life in them with little wear throughout.

While this ES-330 is certainly capable of delivering great jazz and blues tones with ease, it's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Gained up with some overdrive or into a cranked amp, it's an absolute monster of a guitar! The P90s have a rich, punchy voice with great top end zing in the bridge position, and a meaty, full neck position tone.

Still considered one of the better values in continual rise of the vintage Gibson electric market, this ES-330 is a true standout.

Condition: As previously mentioned, this is a very clean instrument. All original with a clean finish that has some light play wear on the body. More specifically, the back of the body shows some contact wear from living inside a case with a strap and a cable. The original frets are very clean with plenty of life left in them. The tuners are original, with the D tuner shaft being slightly bent but still functional.
