Gibson's iconic semi-hollow electric bass in it rarest form, this EB-2 features its original Natural finish, banjo tuners, and Lifton case!

1959 Gibson EB-2N just into the shop!

We've had our fair share of great vintage Fender basses come through our shop, but no Gibson bass in recent history can top this Natural beauty!

Gibson's EB-2 semi-hollow electric bass debuted in 1958 alongside its ES-3x5 brethren, and has since become of one their most cherished models. This 1959 build is 1 of 60 shipped that year, and shares a bit of the earliest features, such as the factory banjo tuners and black plastic pickup cover. Furthermore, this bass has got a factory heel stinger! Come on!

A round C neck profile with the short scale length and lightweight laminated Maple thinline body make for one comfortable, resonant, and easy playing bass. The original single coil pickup dubiously nicknamed "mudbucker" seems to be anything but that - it's got a particularly noticeable top end that makes this bass sing. No compromise on low end of course, but where these typically lack clarity, this one is an exception.

There's just something a little extra special about Natural Gibsons. They undoubtedly used some of their best Maple laminate, and the contrast of the dark chocolatey Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, black and gold plastics, and nickel hardware give it a certain look that no other bass really has.

Paired with its original brown Lifton hardshell case, which also has what appears to be its original store sticker on the inside lid lining from Roxy's Music in Batavia, NY.
