Description
Attention Les Paul fans!
Here we have a super clean example of an early Gibson Custom Shop Historic R7 (1957) Reissue Les Paul in a superb Goldtop finish. Gibson really set the tone for these iconic reissues in first few years, and it's evident in this guitar what made them so special.
Made in 1996, this R7 features a super comfortable one piece mahogany neck with mid/late 50s carve, vintage spec fret wire set into a lovely rosewood fingerboard, and a gorgeous one piece mahogany body with maple top. The original Goldtop finish has begun to age quite nicely, featuring some light natural lacquer checking.
Sonically, this R7 has all of the great tonal qualities of an early Custom Shop LP. The original '57 Classic humbuckers have great clarity, spank, and authority reminiscent of the heralded Seth Lover designed vintage PAFs. The guitar sounds both sweet and punchy, just the way a vintage LP would. Add in the bigsby, and you've got some great vibrato to add a little more versatility and character to your sound.
Condition: Excellent. Minor play wear throughout, with light to moderate patina on the hardware and pickups. Small nick near the upper strap button. Light lacquer checking at the horn and near the controls. The frets are in excellent condition with virtually no wear.
Price includes original hardshell case.
