1951 Gibson BR-6 Lap Steel just into the shop!

This is a great example of one of Gibson's best selling lap steel guitars. Originally introduced in 1946, the BR-6 aimed at delivering a quality Hawaiian style lap steel electric that was relatively simplistic in its design but unmistakable in its origins.

The all-Mahogany 22 1/2" scale body features its original lacquer finish with brown body stain and slightly bursted top finish. The original sealed case Kluson single-line tuners work nicely, and the original P90 pickup sounds excellent with a classic 50s voice that lends itself not only to Hawaiian but Folk, Country, and Americana. The control plate assembly is quite clean as are the original tall barrel knobs.

It's currently strung up to C6 tuning for a traditionalist's approach, but will handle variations with just a string change or re-tuning.

Paired with a vintage hardshell case in good condition with some light reinforcement done to the corners, a replaced handle, and some professional duct taping done to a bottom edge seam.
