One of the rarest production amplifiers to come out of Fender's long and storied history during its heyday is the Blonde or "White" Twin. This transitional 2x12 combo boasts 80 watts of output, making it the most powerful amplifier Fender had released at the time following the high-powered Tweed Twin. Less than 500 or so of these Twin Amps were produced, so when one comes along, it's a special experience!

The 6G8-A Twin Amp has a big, full, and round response, with rich low midrange and a mellower top end than the Blackface Twin Reverb that would follow. As was the case with some of the larger combos and piggyback models of the time, the Blonde Twin features the desirable Harmonic Vibrato circuit that delivers an hypnotic uni-vibe like effect, essentially shifting between high and low frequencies, respectively. A global Presence control helps to add some top end to the EQ without disturbing much of the preamp's tone stack settings - great for adding a touch of bite with a darker guitar, or adjusting down with leaner, brighter electrics.

This particular example comes in a recovered cabinet with a replaced handle, replaced back panels and accompanying cabinet hardware, all completed by Dixie Sound Works in 1997. The original Oxford speakers were replaced at some point, and a wonderful sounding pair of 1967 'Gold label' Fender Jensen C12N speakers are currently in the amp. The amplifier circuit itself is 100% original including the transformers. An aftermarket Fender single-button footswitch is included for activating/deactivating the Vibrato. The amp was serviced by Boston-area amp tech Stan Day, which included replacement of the original bias caps and some general TLC. The original two-prong cable was left intact.

Opportunities to purchase these rare birds a few and far between. With all of the critical components intact, this slightly player-grade example is a great value for someone looking for an all-timer of a Fender combo. Nothing sounds quite like a Blonde Twin!
