1973 Fender Telecaster Thinline in original Natural finish just into the shop!
This is an excellent playing, lightweight example of the "Version 2" semi-hollow Telecaster that Fender released as part of an expansion of their Telecaster line beginning in 1968. It features the same body construction of the late 60s models, but adopts a new electronics configuration with a pair of wide range humbuckers, hardtail bridge, and new pickguard shape.
These WRHBs have a fat but articulate voice and great top end chime. Think of them like a mini humbucker but with a bit more midrange response. The CuNiFe magnet element is attributed to its unique tonal properties as well. They sound wonderful into a clean amp- great for blues, R&B, and motown. But they can easily cover ground in rock, country, and alternative genres, as they take to overdrive very well.
This is nice, clean example that we just performed a refret on. The guitar's hardware and electronics are original as well, save for the tone capacitor. At just under 6 3/4 lbs on our scale, it's quite light and super resonant with great natural sustain. It's a total joy to play, even unplugged! The neck profile is a nice rounded C/U, slightly slimmer and with a moderate taper, and combined with the fresh vintage spec frets, it offers excellent playability.
Paired with a later 70s Fender hardshell case.
