A true closet classic. An iconic electric. This 1965 Fender Stratocaster is just a few ticks short of NOS as you'll find one these days.

Early 1965 Fender Stratocaster in factory Sunburst finish just in!

Would you believe us if we told you this guitar walked right in through our front door one Saturday afternoon without warning, and presented to us by the family of its original owner? Ok, so it's not completely unheard of, but when you open a vintage case and see something like this, time just seems to stop.

This gorgeous '65 Stratocaster is just outrageous in every way. A transitional build of sorts, it maintains the small headstock along with the newly adapted decal and white 3-ply pickguard that replaced the mint 3-ply just 6-8 months before this guitar rolled out of Fullerton. While it might not have the build spec that makes collectors go crazy, its condition might startle you.

Nothing to excuse here, folks. This guitar is in just stunning overall condition, from finish to plastics to hardware. Inside? It's the exact same. Not a screw out of place, not a solder joint touched since 1965. A true time capsule of a Strat!

The guitar actually did get played a little bit in its earliest days, and with original fretwire already starting life on the lower side, it didn't take much for a few of the frets to show enough wear to play it a little tougher to play. We made the decision to replace the frets to make this guitar play as good as it looks. It now sets up great, with nice smooth feel and low-medium action that's got it playing like a new guitar. The neck is super clean, and check out the figure of that Maple!

The guitar has been housed in its original black "no logo" hardshell case all these years, and some of wear on the back of the body corroborates that. A little bit of coily cable migration happened in a few spots, and there are a handful of small dings and nicks mostly on the edges of the body. Still, the lacquer is very clean with very little wear through the top coat.

We all hope to find a great vintage Fender like this in the corner of our attic or bedroom closet, and this is proof that it's still happening!
