This 1965 Fender Stratocaster is a prime example of a player-grade vintage Fender delivering the goods without spoiling your savings.
1965 Fender Stratocaster in Sunburst finish just into the shop! This is a great playing and sounding the guitar that doesn't carry the collectability factor, but certainly delivers in the tone department.
The original Alder body has been professionally refinished in Sunburst, and it's outfitted with a replacement pickguard, back plate, and knobs. The neck and middle pickups were made in December 1965 and have previously been rewound by Seymour Duncan, and the bridge pickup is from a 1974 Strat. The addition of a 5-way switch along with a newer wiring harness brings more modern versatility to the table as well. The tremolo bridge is original as are the Pat Pend saddles.
The neck rocks a super comfortable '65 C profile with a nice moderate taper. The original veneer Rosewood fingerboard was replaced and new medium jumbo frets were installed, but the original Kluson double line tuners and decal remain.
Plugged in, the tone is quintessential mid 60s Strat. The neck pickup is warm and fat, but with great articulation and output. Middle pickup follows suit and has lots of fundamental power. The '74 bridge pickup is a little brighter than the original '65 pickup that would've originally been found in the guitar, but there's no denying its lineage.
Coming in at a touch over 7.5lbs, its got a great weight and feels quite balanced.
We'll never pass up the opportunity to have great player-grade guitars here in the shop, especially when they play and sound like this one!
