This early 1962 Fender Precision Bass is one of the finest sounding and playing examples you're apt to find on the market today. Entering into production in December of 1961 with completion in January of 1962, it bears the specs of what would become the most popular electric bass in Fender's storied history. With its slab Rosewood fingerboard and rich 3-tone Sunburst finish, it has the classic aesthetic that is still en vogue 60 years later.
With decades of reissues built to celebrate this iconic bass, it's a real treat to have the real deal here at the shop...
If you were to ask our in-house bassist extraordinaire - Joe Klompus - he'd tell you that this P Bass "has it"; a punchy original split-coil pickup, perfectly worn in neck, ultra-resonant and lightweight Alder body, and the perfect balance and weight at just under 8.5 lbs.
It's clear this bass was a good one from the start, as it bears some of the coolest true play wear you're going to find on a vintage Fender. Still, the 3-tone Sunburst hasn't totally faded out, maintaining a really vibrant and dynamic look. The original tortoise pickguard is also in excellent condition with very little signs of shrinkage. The original brown hardshell case is in impressively good condition as well, with both a clean interior and exterior.
A marvelous and captivating example, this is a Precision Bass by which many others could be measured.
