Fender Precision Bass, Black (1974)
Long Scale (Bass) · Vintage
This is one of those basses that you know has "it" as soon as you pick it up. First off, it weighs in at only 8lbs, which is especially light by solidbody bass standards. It's very resonant and balanced, and with such a great playing neck it makes it an easy first-option for a gigging musician. Lastly - it's hard to beat the "tuxedo" look, isn't it? We're in love with the presentation of this bass! We shipped the original split coil pickup out to Lindy Fralin who rewound one half of the pickup to match with the original wind in the other half, and it's sounding superb! It came to us with an aftermarket black pickguard, and we elected to install a nice Spitfire 3-ply white guard to get that tuxedo look going. A proper Fender bridge was also installed along with Fender knobs to complete the proper era look.
While this bass might not satisfy the most discerning vintage collectors, it definitely ticks the boxes when it comes to offering great vintage tone and feel at a great price point.
