1965 Fender Mustang just in from the original owner!
This is such a great sounding and playing example that has survived 60 years in great, original condition. No mods, no oddball repairs - just a great specimen of the student model electric that has remained one of the most enjoyable vintage guitars out there.
The original (Dakota) Red finish is largely unfaded, with a nice rich dark color that contrasts against the pearloid pickguard and Rosewood fingerboard. With the exception of some buckle rash on the back of the body that's gone through the top coat, it has some really nice looking lacquer checking throughout.
The Oval C neck has the typical zero taper often found in 1966, and the original frets are still in excellent shape. The nut measures a slightly wider 1.65" which feels great in-hand.
An "adolescent Jaguar" of sorts, Mustangs are quite versatile. Between the two original single coil pickups, you've got some nice Strat-like qualities with Tele-like control and the addition of a phase switch. Lots of great tonal flavor available that makes these models a go-to option for Pop, R&B, Funk, and Rock. It might not be everyone's daily driver, but it certainly plays, feels, and sounds like a guitar a few notches north of what it was intended to be.
Includes original hardshell case. Original vibrato arm not included.
