A stunning pre-CBS offset in one of the rarest custom color offerings!

1964 Fender Jaguar in custom color Sonic Blue just in!

The color...THE COLOR. How can we talk about how otherwise great this guitar is without starting with Sonic Blue?!

This fabulous playing and sounding Jag is made all the more incredible by its rare and original Sonic Blue finish. Until 2026, this guitar resided with its original owner, and was kept all-original until our acquisition. Since taking it in, we've gone through painstaking, challenging, and laborious efforts to....

... replace the mute foam ;)

That's it! This guitar is essentially untouched, with every screw, piece of hardware, and solder joint as a factory original. An instrument with a color this rare does not simply pass muster with assumption alone. We carefully went through and verified this one, identifying all of the critical markers that make up a factory original finish like this. Nail holes, solder joints, paint stick mark in the neck pocket- everything was just as we love to see these guitars.

At one point, the guitar had traveled in its original no logo hardshell case with one of the small brad nails protruding from the accessory compartment block. It made contact on the back of the neck, creating a few small scratches and minor pock marks. We tasked our repair staff with working to undo some of that wear, all without adding new lacquer to the finish. It's hardly noticeable now, and not really in a position on the neck that would influence playability. There's a small section of the top side of the case we also performed a minor repair on, but just as the guitar, it's in great overall condition with fully operational latches and handle.

The original owner at one point had also taped his name on the back of the body - BUD - which seemed to had worn off or been removed long ago. There's very little difference in lacquer fading, and it's more noticeable at certain angles of light.

In true '64 fashion, this Jag has an amazing playing Oval C neck that has a bit more depth at the 1st fret than its earlier 60s counterparts, which creates a little smoother taper up the neck. It's a very resonant guitar, too. The original single coils sound fantastic- bold, punchy, and clear with great jangle.

As the first vintage Sonic Blue Fender to be welcomed into our store, we couldn't be more thrilled to share this one with you!
