This 1968 Custom Shop Stratocaster combines the iconic feel of a vintage ‘60s model with a comfortable U-shaped neck carve and carefully tuned pickups for a versatile, perfectly balanced playing experience.
We’ve always had a soft spot for the Custom Shop’s late ‘60s models - and while the Hendrix connection is hard to ignore (let’s face it, Hendrix is why many of us started playing in the first place), what really keeps us coming back is how these guitars feel in your hands.What makes this 1968 Stratocaster stand out for us is the U-shaped neck carve. It’s got some depth, .85-.91" to be exact, but it has a slightly narrower feel that makes it incredibly comfortable for just about any playing style. Whether you’re leaning into blues or exploring more experimental sounds, this neck gives you the perfect blend of substance and playability. Speaking of the neck, while it’s a late ‘60s model, the finish is more reminiscent of a ‘50s Strat. No sticky, glossy lacquer to slow you down here - it feels smooth, broken-in, and ready to play the minute you pick it up.
And let’s not forget the pickups. Each position has been fine-tuned for maximum tonal variety and cohesion: a ‘69 in the neck, a Fat 50s in the middle, and a Tex Special in the bridge. This setup gives you a fuller bridge tone, lightly compressed 2 and 4 positions, and a scooped midrange in the neck position.
