This Custom Shop LTD Double Esquire blends vintage tone and modern tweaks - from a flipped control plate to a roasted alder body - into one versatile, expressive Tele-style build.
This Custom Shop LTD Double Esquire brings together a smart mix of modern Tele ideas that work beautifully in practice: a roasted alder body, Duncan Antiquity P90 in the neck, flipped control plate, ’51 Nocaster bridge pickup, and RSD brass compensated saddles, all wrapped up with a fast, comfortable ’60s Oval C neck (.81–.93").
What we love about this build is how each choice adds something meaningful to the feel of the instrument.
The flipped bridge pickup gives the high strings a slightly softer edge, while tightening up the low end - a subtle shift, but one that makes a difference in tone and balance. Flipping the control plate moves the volume knob closer for easy swells and puts the selector switch just far enough out of the way to avoid any mid-song mishaps.
The neck is another standout. The Oval C carve is one of our favorite Custom Shop profiles, especially if you’re a Strat player looking for that same sense of ease in a Tele. Paired with a 9.5" radius and 45085 frets, it’s fast, expressive, and right at home whether you’re bending, picking, or digging into rhythm work.
A smart, great-feeling Esquire that blends tradition with modern comfort, and just enough edge to keep things interesting.
