We'd originally spec'd this killer Ocean Turquoise '66 Tele as a pair with a matching '66 Strat, but the Strat came in and sold before we could get it on the site! We decided to tuck this guy away to ensure we could get it posted and here we are.

First off, is there a cooler color than Ocean Turquoise? We love this custom color and the relic job on this one is really well done. If you hold the body at an angle you can see the grain from the 2 piece Alder body like a real vintage guitar (the finish is sinking into the grain). That level of detail is prevalent on all the Custom Shop guitars we're getting these days. Beautiful work.

The unique feature on this guitar is the roasted maple, bound rosewood fingerboard neck. Roasting is a controlled process that essentially ages the wood the same way decades of time will, resulting in a lighter, highly resonant and stable neck. The '66 Oval C carve and compound radius (7 1/4"-9 1/2") yield a fantastic "modern vintage" feel - meaning, the overall feel is old-school but you don't have issues with bending as the neck flattens out as you go up to the higher frets.

Plugged in? Wow! Super impressed and loving this one. The Nocaster bridge pickup is a fave of ours - cutting, twangy, but muscular with a great, great midrange. It's not harsh or brittle. The neck pickup is fantastic as well (a hand-wound '67) - similar to a great Strat neck pickup, though it's more percussive. Think slightly warmer, rounder, more percussive Strat neck pickup. They balance beautifully and the Greasebucket tone circuit and modern wiring round up the package. Versatile, musical, inspiring...7lbs 2oz? Yes, more of this please.

This guitar is a blast to play and ticks all the boxes for us! Priced with hardshell case, CoA, and case candy.
