The Tele Reimagined: Smart Specs, Addictive Feel, and Endless Tone.
This Custom Shop LTD Double Esquire pulls together some of our favorite modern Telecaster features: a roasted alder body, Duncan Antiquity P90 in the neck, a flipped control plate and ’51 Nocaster bridge pickup, RSD brass compensated saddles, and a ’60s Oval C neck profile (.81–.93"). A lot of great ideas packed into one guitar.
What we love about these specs is how they shape the playing experience. Flipping the bridge pickup subtly shifts the response - softening the treble on the G, B, and high E while adding snap and twang to the wound strings. Flipping the control plate puts the volume knob right where you want it for swells with your pinky and keeps the selector switch safely out of the way.
And then there’s the neck. The Custom Shop’s Oval C is one of our favorites, and here it feels instantly comfortable, especially for Strat players who want that same ease in a Tele. Paired with a 9.5" radius and 45085 frets, it’s a sleek, fast-playing neck equally at home with chicken pickin’, pedal-steel bends, or chord work. Yes please!
